Performs multiple aspects of applied carpentry in the maintenance or construction of camp facilities; leads work teams as assigned. Designs, builds, and/or modifies items of various materials such as wood, plastic laminate, etc. Items include cabinets, furniture, countertops, shelving, fixtures, etc. Maintains
integrity of facility infrastructure as related to carpentry by repairing and/or modifying doors, ceilings, floors and walls. Constructs, installs, and repairs wooden structures and fixtures. Examines blueprints ands determines dimensions of structure. Selects materials and structural units, such as lumber,
prefabricated doors, and cabinets of wood or plastic, and paneling, and inspects them to ensure conformance with provisions of building code, local ordinance, or work orders. Determines sequence of activities concerned with fabrication, assembly, and erection of structure. Assigns subcontractors and/or labor broker personnel to various tasks, including cutting material to size, building concrete forms, erecting wooden framework, and laying flooring. Inspects work performed by subcontractors and/or labor brokers, including wood structures, wood framing, stair and rail framing, concrete form work, wood
foundations, etc., to ensure conformance with specifications. Installs doors, builds stairs, and lays hardwood floors. May build timber structures and supports for concrete forms.
As directed by management, may supervise employees or subcontractor personnel in accordance with the “General Supervisory Duties and Responsibilities” addendum.
Position may be located in a war zone in a contingency environment with harsh, dangerous working and living conditions, which may include carrying and wearing required personal protective equipment for extended periods of time. To ensure compliance with safety, health and security requirements in the
contract, employees will be literate in English (read, write, speak and understand). Must possess the ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language at the intermediate level as necessary to perform assigned job functions. Requires the technical skills, job knowledge and physical ability necessary to perform assigned job functions.
Basic Job Requirements High school diploma. Five (5) years related experience.
