Job Description
To supervise the RHSP’s fleet repair services; provide skilled mechanical work in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of vehicles, motorcycles, generators and boat, preventive maintenance duties, schedule daily work priorities, maintaining inventory and records for mechanic workshop and to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.
Job Responsibilities
• Creating weekly schedules and allocation of tasks to the mechanical team.
• Providing weekly automotive mechanical status report to the Fleet Manager.
• Creating and maintaining service and maintenance schedules for the automotive.
• Perform skilled mechanic duties including troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing all automotive.
• Inspect, diagnose, repair and adjust a variety of systems on vehicles, including fuel injection systems, antilock brake systems, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, air conditioning systems, fuel management systems, transmissions, steering and suspension components, clutches and engine sensors and generators.
• Inspect automotive mechanical problems and determine extent of necessary repairs as well as performing routine preventive maintenance.
• Estimate time, materials and equipment required for jobs assigned to the mechanical team using a proper tracking system.
• Assisting in creating specifications for automotive spare parts and equipment as well as submitting budget requests and justification to supervisor for inclusion in the quarterly sectional budget.
• Performing safety inspections on all automotive and ensuring all repairs have been completed.
• Maintaining and keeping a written work history on each automotive in its file.
• Ensuring all safety procedures are being adhered to by the team.
• Ensuring time sheets and proper leave plans are being submitted on time for the mechanical team.
• Providing monthly mechanical report for work done by the mechanical team to the supervisor
Knowledge and Experience
• A minimum of a Diploma in Motor Vehicle Mechanics/ Engineering from a reputable institution.
• Must have an ordinary level certificate (Uganda Certificate of Education)
• A valid driving license for vehicles (DL) with a clean driving record is required.
• At least two (2) years’ experience in commercial and light vehicle repair that includes mechanical, electronics from reputable organization.
• Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of how vehicles work and how various parts of the vehicle interact with each other.
• Ability to deliver accurate results in a timely manner and in an environment with multiple and challenging tasks.
• Good knowledge of traffic rules and regulations .
• Report writing skills are an added advantage.
