Background
Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) is a semi-autonomous agency under the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities. UWA was established in 1996 and is managed in accordance with the Wildlife Act Cap 200.
The Mission of UWA is:
“To conserve, economically develop and sustainably manage the wildlife and protected areas of Uganda in partnership with neighboring communities and other stakeholders for the benefit of the people of Uganda and the global community.

Reports to : Director Legal & Corporate Affairs
Department: executive director’s office
Salary scale: uwa 04
Duty station : uwa headquarters
Supervises: Warden Monitoring & Evaluation
Vacancies: one (1)
Contract duration: four (4) years renewable
Age limit: not more than 45 years

Main Job Purpose and Scope
To develop and implement an effective monitoring and evaluation system for the Organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement a monitoring and evaluation framework.
• Regularly undertake midterm and end of term evaluations of the Strategic Plan, General Management Plans and other plans
• Develop monitoring and evaluation tools.
• Monitor the implementation of Top Management and Board of Trustees decisions.
• Develop capacity of staff to effectively participate in monitoring and evaluation processes.
• Prepare regular organization performance reports.
• Develop and implement quarterly work plans and prepare timely unit performance reports
• Supervise and appraise wardens and other staff under Monitoring and evaluation Unit (ix) Perform any other official duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Persons Specifications
Qualifications
Should possess an Honors Bachelors Degree in either Economics, Statistics, Social Sciences (with economics and/ or social administration) and Natural resources management (with M&E course unit) from a recognized Institution.
Possession of Masters Degree in Monitoring and Evaluation.

Experience:
At least six (6) years’ experience in Monitoring and Evaluation from a large reputable and busy organization, three (3) of which should have been in senior officer level.

Competences:
• Team building and staff supervision
• Conservation planning skills
• Excellent analytical and presentation skills.
• Finance and human resource management skills
• Excellent report writing skills.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
• Knowledge of GIS
• Statistical analysis skills.
