Job Description
The Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU) is a statutory body established under Section 9 of the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production) Act 2013, and in line with the National Oil and Gas Policy for Uganda which was approved in 2008. The mandate of the Petroleum Authority of Uganda is to monitor and regulate the exploration, development and production, together with the refining, gas conversion, transportation and storage of petroleum in Uganda. This includes ensuring that petroleum operations in Uganda are carried out in accordance with the relevant laws, regulations, guidelines, statutes and in line with international best practice for the petroleum industry.

Pau/Exp/021/602: Geochemist
Job Summary
• The Geochemist will be responsible for archiving samples submitted by oil companies and maintaining the laboratory section.
• He / She will analyze all geochemical samples and generate reports.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
• Undertakes archiving of core samples, rock cuttings and oil samples submitted by oil companies.
• Maintains the core store and Laboratory section.
• Participates in the analysis of samples by oil companies.
• Participates in the analysis by oil companies of oil and rock cuttings from wells
• Undertakes analysis of samples received from oil companies.
• Generates geochemistry data for basin analysis and resource assessment of the different sedimentary basins in the country
• Compile Monthly, Quarterly and Annual reports
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills And Experience
Basic Qualifications
• A Bachelor’s degree (Hons) in Petroleum Geoscience, Geochemistry or Geology from an internationally recognized institution.
Experience
• A minimum of 3 years’ relevant working experience in the oil and gas sector, in
• a busy and well-organized institution.
• Demonstrated knowledge in Geochemical data interpretation.
• Knowledge of geochemistry data interpretation software.
• Knowledge in laboratory analysis techniques, basin modelling and petroleum systems analysis.
• Knowledge in operating and maintaining geochemical equipment and software.
• Ability to assimilate, develop and apply geochemistry concepts to explore for petroleum.
Added advantage
• A Master’s degree in Geochemistry from an internationally recognized University.
• An internationally recognized professional qualification or membership of an internationally recognized professional body in the areas of oil and gas.
