Job Description
Nsamizi is an Implementing Partner (IP) for UNHCR that positively contributes towards improving sustainable living standards of refugees and other Persons of Concern, through; Provision of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Livelihoods and Environment & Energy services in refugee and hosting populations. With funding from UNHCR, Nsamizi Training Institute of Social Development, is to carryout recruitment of staff to work on its UNHCR funded project in Nakivale/Oruchinga, Kyangwali and Rwamwanja refugee settements. Nsamizi is looking for qualified and experienced persons for the following position:
Job Title: Environment Assistant
Place of Assignment : Rwamwanja
Reports to Environment and Energy Officer
Job Summary:
The Environment Assistant Officer will work closely with colleagues responsible for Energy and livelihoods. The incumbent will support the Nsamizi Rwamwanja field team on all issues related to environment, energy and self-reliance and will make sure that Environment interventions are in line with the provisions of the project description.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Sensitizing the public on environment conservation policies, laws and regulations.
• Supporting community initiatives for the renewal and sustainable exploitation of the natural environment by Tree planting and management and Promotion of energy saving technologies
• Support environment conservation related activities.
• Monitoring and supervising activities relating to the environment within the settlements.
• Enforcing implementation of the community and District environment action plans.
• Provide capacity building training to Nursery bed staff
• Identifying opportunities and constraints to optimal use of wetland resources, and Compiling reports on environment degradation activities and practices
Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal applicant must hold at least a Diploma in Forestry or any other related field with a minimum of 3 year experience.
Experience of working with Humanitarian Sector
