Job Description


Africa Medical and Behavioral Sciences Organization (AMBSO) www.ambso.org is a ‘Private Not for profit (PNFP) organization working in partnership with Uro Care Hospital, with its Head offices at Nansana, along Hoima Road and satellite offices in Hoima and Masaka. AMBSO conducts a wide range of activities of public health interest including clinical research, community-based health surveillance research; programs for health care service delivery and capacity building among health care workers and community health workers.
With funding from Gilead Sciences Inc. and in collaboration with MUJHU care limited, AMBSO will participate in a six year multi-site PURPOSE 1 study that is aimed at evaluating the efficacy of Lenacapavir (LEN) and Emitricitabine/Tenofovir Alafenamide (F/TAF) in preventing HIV transmission among adolescent girls and young women (AGYWs) at high risk of acquiring HIV infection. AMBSO is seeking for qualified, committed and reliable professionals to work at its Masaka and Hoima research sites. Applications are therefore invited from interested persons to fill the position listed above.

Location: Hoima and Masaka sites
Reporting to: Study coordinator

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Recruiting and screening of study participants.
• Administering informed consent to study participants.
• Performing and documenting study evaluations, medical histories, adverse effects, physical assessment
• Participation in collection of biological specimens.
• Administering clinical trial medication to study participants and monitoring where applicable.
• Accurate data collection about study participants.
• Ensuring quality conduct in all aspects of the study as per good clinical practice and regulatory requirements.
• Interfacing with monitors and ensuring that their queries are resolved in time.
• Any other duties that will be assigned by supervisors.

Essential qualifications/requirements:
• The applicant should have a minimum of a Diploma in Clinical Medicine/ Nursing from a reputable institution.
• The candidate should have a wide range of experience in handling study clients with emphasis on confidentiality and ethical conduct.
• Registration certificate for allied professionals.
• Has an up- to date practicing license from the Allied health professionals/ Uganda nurses and Midwives council.
• Previous experience in study related data collection is desirable
• Computer literacy with at least MS word is required.
• He or she should be able to take initiative, eager to learn new things, organized, assertive, flexible, good communicator.
• Ability to work under minimum supervision.
• Experience in working with research institutions.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Persons applying for Hoima site should be able to fluently speak and write Runyoro
• Any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisors.
