The Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC) seeks to hire suitable candidates for the position of RESEARCH ASSISTANT on the LLINEUP2 Study. The successful candidates will be based at any of the following sites namely Mubende, Kayunga, Kyegegwa, Kibaale,
Hoima, Masindi, Kiryandongo, Arua, Koboko, Moyo, Nwoya, Amuru, Gulu, Omoro, Lamwo,
Kitgum, Agago, Oyam, Kole, Apac, Kwania, Kaabong, Kapelebyong, Amuria, Kumi, Bukedea,
Buyende, Kaliro, Luuka, Jinja, Mayuge, Busia

Duties and Responsibilities
• Conduct community sensitization
• Map and locate households using hand held GPS device
• Sensitize heads of households about the LLINEUP2 study including the household survey and clinical survey of eligible participants
• Seek consent for participation in the cross–‐sectional community household and clinical surveys
• Administer the household survey questionnaire to heads of household
• Screen and enroll household residents into the clinical survey
• Ensure accurate labelling, packaging and timely transport of all laboratory specimens from the field
• Ensure accurate and proper completion of all study logs, questionnaires and case record forms
• Assist with organization and filing of study forms and generation of reports in collaboration with the study coordinators and data management team
• Maintain confidentiality of records and research findings as appropriate
• Take part in regular team meetings

• Community sensitization
• Household location and participant enrollment
• Participants consented properly
• Accurate and timely entry, tracking and recording of information on all source documents.
• Household and clinical survey procedures conducted appropriately.

Qualifications and other desirables for the job:
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities from a recognized University
• At least 2 years’ progressive work experience in a similar setting or performing similar activity
• Good knowledge of GCP and HSP with valid certificates
• Willingness to live and work up country in Uganda
• Willing to work extra hours and travel long distances in rural settings.
• Previous experience in any community surveys will be an added advantage
• Knowledge of the local languages spoken in any of the locations is a must (namely Mubende, Kayunga, Kyegegwa, Kibaale, Hoima, Masindi, Kiryandongo,
• Arua, Koboko, Moyo, Nwoya, Amuru, Gulu, Omoro, Lamwo, Kitgum, Agago,
• Oyam, Kole, Apac, Kwania, Kaabong, Kapelebyong, Amuria, Kumi, Bukedea,
• Buyende, Kaliro, Luuka, Jinja, Mayuge, Busia)
• Ability to ride a motorcycle with a valid riding permit is an added advantage
