Job Description


Reporting to the Country Director, the Operations Manager will be responsible for the overall management, high performance, operational efficiency, strategy and administration of all Operational functions of United Future Foundation Uganda (UFFU). The position holder shall promote stewardship of all company resources, help ensure principled compliance with national and UFFU policies, proactively identify and report risk issues, and under supervision, lead operational improvements. The position requires a high degree of integrity and confidentiality in dealing with financial and personnel matters.

Key responsibilities:
• Design and improve UFFU’s operations and procurement systems creating a robust procurement and operations function that also monitors, evaluates and reports on all operational departments.
• Provide strategic and operational leadership to all direct reports.
• Act as the lead on school construction projects, strictly monitoring all phases of the tendering and construction process ensuring that there is efficient use of human and capital resources and that projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Work with the operations staff to determine the annual food requirements for the schools and put plans in place to maximize the yield from farm activities to meet these requirements.
• Develop and implement a system that ensures the efficiency of vehicle, motorcycle and fuel usage.
• Carry out accurate and timely reporting, compliance and risk management for the operations element.
• Work in accordance and within UFFU safety procedures at all times.

Education and Experience;
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or other relevant field. Masters preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years’ work experience in finance, human resources, logistics, or administration officer/support level position with progressive responsibilities.
• Additional education may substitute for some experience.
• Experience in fleet management, security management, construction management, operations management.
• Project Management experience required. Experience with an NGO preferred.
• Understanding of financial systems, including budgeting and budget/ expense analysis experience preferred.
