Job Description
Save for Health Uganda (SHU) is a reputable local NGO founded in 2002 with a mission to enhance the quality of health of Ugandans through self-managed community health financing schemes.
We are implementing the project titled, Enabling vulnerable families in Uganda to equitably access healthcare services of quality. The project’s goal is to contribute to the realization of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Uganda. Specifically, the project will: (a) Promote and support Community Health Financing Schemes in the Districts of Kampala, Luwero, Nakasongola, Nakaseke, Masaka, Mityana, Kassanda, Bushenyi, Mitooma, Sheema, Iganga, Bugweri and Mayuge to grow and function well; and (b) Advocate for improved access to quality health care services for all Ugandans
Position: Field Officer (1 Position)
Reports to: Project Coordinator
Duty station: Iganga
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Mobilize and sensitize communities about the health insurance principles and CHI schemes’ functioning;
• Planning activities, developing strategies and drawing action plans
• Support communities to create health insurance schemes
• Participate in developing capacity building plans for schemes and in training the leaders
• Monitor and evaluate the performance of the schemes
• Identify and link schemes to relevant partners to improve the performance of the schemes
• Regularly report progress
Competencies:
• The person needed must be a team player, dynamic, self-motivated, a fast learner, hardworking, flexible and fluent in speaking Lusoga language;
Required Qualifications and Experience:
• A degree in public health, development studies, social sciences, social work or any other relevant field.
• A minimum of two years’ relevant experience in a similar position.
• Must have good computer knowledge with abilities in MS word, excel, power point and internet
• Must be flexible and ready to work for long hours
• Must be fluent in speaking Lusoga
• Must be between 24 and 32 years of age
