In Uganda, ZOA has offices in Kampala, West Nile (Arua), Acholi (Nwoya), and Karamoja (Amudat). ZOA Uganda works both in relief and recovery on the themes of food security & livelihoods, WASH, primary/accelerated/vocational education, and conflict management with a special focus on land security.

Senior Project Officer – Agronomy (1 position) for West Nile
About the position
The Senior Project Officer – Agronomy, with support from the Project Coordinator/Manager, is responsible for the day to day planning, and implementation of activities under Security, Protection and Economic Empowerment – (SUPREME) project.
SUPREME project in West Nile has a 30 month implementation timeframe focusing on improving the overall economic wellbeing of the refugees and host communities in West Nile mainly targeting the districts of Terego, Madi-Okollo, Moyo and Obongi.
The SPO is responsible for day to day implementation of the project, including:
• Mobilize the SDC groups and train them on agribusiness ensuring they adopt the methodology for higher incomes
• Supports the community volunteers in monitoring and collecting data from the SDCs ensuring that the project indicators ate achieved on a monthly basis.
Tasks, responsibilities, results
• Implements project activities in line with the project proposal to achieve optimal project outputs and outcomes in line with ZOA/donor procedures and targets;
• Supports possible community volunteers in day to day implementation;
• Accounts timely for executed project activities in line with and according to relevant ZOA policies and guidelines;
• Ensures project outputs are consistent with project proposals, log frames and in line with quality standards and country policies;
• Oversees and ensures implementation is in line with standards and policies of both ZOA and government of Uganda;
• Any other duty as assigned by the supervisor in line with the project.
Reporting
• Provide inputs to implementation plans and activity/monthly reports;
• Identify, document lessons learned and best practices;
• Prepare and submit well written success stories;
• Contribute to project reports or implementation plans as required by supervisor;
• Collect monitoring data according to ZOA’s systems and activities in the project;
• Actively participate in (technical) working groups and coordination meetings.
Representation and coordination
• Local government actors and relevant district offices;
• (if applicable) Lead and co-implementing partners under the project(s); Key project specific sector actors.
Human Resource Management
• The Senior Project Officer does not supervise any staff as a direct supervisor. However, the Senior Project Officer will work and oversee the work of community volunteers.
Procurement and finance
• Initiate timely purchase requisition of project goods/services;
• Ensure expenses are in line with approved budget;
• Provide appropriate codes for expenses.

Knowledge & Experience:
Essential
• Degree or Diploma in the Agricultural Sciences, Agribusiness, Agricultural Education, development studies and related fields; Specialized training as TOT in ERI, VSLA and FFS methodology is a plus.
• At least 2 years successful experience in a similar position implementing related projects;
Desired
• Working experience in a humanitarian setting is an added advantage;
• Experience with large project funded by institutional donors;
• Understanding of the local context, culture, and languages;
• Proven experience in implementing clean/renewable energy projects.
Skills:
• Excellent spoken and written command of English;
• Good communication, writing and facilitation skills;
• Provides regular feedback, acknowledges success and the need for improvement with project team;
• Good computer skills: Ms Excel and Ms Word;
• Ability to drive a motorcycle with valid driving/riding license.
