In order to achieve the above objectives, Hima Cement seeks to recruit a motivated and competent Geocycle Plant Technician as indicated below;

Job Title: Geocycle Plant Technician

Reporting line: Geocycle Optimization Engineer
Duration: Contract – Full time
Duty Station : Kasese

Job Summary;
The job exists to enable the Company to meet its strategic objective of maintaining and optimizing the Geocycle plant. The job holder will be required to operate and maintain the Geocycle plant in an efficient and effective manner at all times as well as comply with the Hima Cement OH&S regulations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Carryout robust trouble shooting of mechanical failures in the Plant and repair these with high precision of quality.
• Observe and record any anomalies on the equipment during maintenance or daily inspection.
• Contributes to the analysis of equipment failures & problems, recommending best corrective actions.
• Efficiently resolve any emergencies or urgent breakdowns as programmed with the supervisor.
• Execute weekly work orders according to preventive maintenance plans or scheduled corrective maintenance actions.
• Participate in development of execution Job Plans for all maintenance activities He/She is involved in.
• Proposes & executes cost reduction initiatives to extend mechanical life of the plant equipment.
• Support Geocycle Optimization Engineer in the control of the maintenance budget, ensuring planning and follow-up on key tasks and costs through executing effective solutions to achieve budget and to meet or exceed targets for the assigned equipment.
• Carryout best housekeeping practices and comply with the Hima Cement environmental and Occupational Health and Safety policies at all times.

Educational Requirements;
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or its equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar industrial setting handling production or maintenance execution works.
• Knowledge and application of FMEA problem solving tools and techniques is an added advantage

Required Qualifications skills and attributes.
• Strong knowledge of basic maintenance tasks such as welding, hydraulics, pneumatics, bearing installations, shaft alignment, fans, and electrical parts is preferred.

Other Technical & Job Related Skills
• Report writing skills
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of excel and Microsoft word.
• Must have a good understanding of the Geocycle function and cement manufacturing process.
• Must have knowledge and experience working with all parts of sawdust shredder and dryer and cement plant equipment.

• Able to work extended hours when required
• Good verbal communication skills
