The National Animal Genetic Resources Centre and Data Bank (NAGRC&DB) is a semi-autonomous agency under the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries mandated to take a leading role in establishing a comprehensive National Animal Breeding Programme in Uganda. The agency wishes to recruit the following;

Title: Pasture & Range Ecologist

Reporting To: Deputy Technical Manager Production
Overall Job Purpose:
To ensure sustainable utilization, protection, and conservation of the environment for animal production.
Age Limit 25-45 Years

Specific Responsibilities
1. Design and conduct ecological surveys on the suitability of grazing range for farm animals.
2. Monitor range activity and advise on its impact on the environment and sustainable development and management.
3. Address problems arising out of farm activities that have an impact on the environment.
4. Liaise with other regulatory bodies to ensure sustainable management of the farmland and implement environmental policy, legislation and regulations with regard to activities of the Centre.
5. Organize and disseminate outreach information on ecological issues through training and sensitization programs to Stakeholders of the Centre including Breeder Associations and the farming community.
6. Coordinate taxonomy studies or research, including soil surveys, to inform management of range ecology. vii. Undertake any other duties as assigned by the supervisors.

Basic Requirements
• Bachelors degree in Agriculture, Range land Ecology, or Land use management, with a relevant post-graduate training
• Should have the ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Working experience of at least Three (03) years with a practical exposure to pasture and range management.
