Job Description
The National Animal Genetic Resources Centre and Data Bank (NAGRC&DB) is a semi-autonomous agency under the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries mandated to take a leading role in establishing a comprehensive National Animal Breeding Programme in Uganda. The agency wishes to recruit the following;
Job Title: Animal Husbandry Officer

Starting date: Immediately
Duration of commitment: 1 Year Renewable Contract
Location: Various AnGRCs/Centre Farms
Reporting To: Senior Farm Manager or Farm Manager
Overall Job Purpose:
To monitor animal care and advise on upkeep, breeding and product quality.
Specific Responsibilities
• Supervise the maintenance of sanitary conditions in the paddocks or kraals
• Prepare animal fodder, supplements, water or other feeds
• Monitor animal health and administer veterinary drugs under supervision by the Veterinarian
• Support animal feed production, breeding and other animal husbandry activities
• Train farm workers on animal care procedures, maintenance duties, and safety precautions
• Undertake any other duties as assigned by the supervisors
Basic Requirements
• A Bachelors Degree is an added advantage
• A Diploma in Veterinary Practice or Animal Sciences.
• Should have practical experience in animal handling and breeding management
• Working experience of at least two (2) years with a practical exposure to animal handling and breeding activities.
