This position reports directly to the legal Manager and is based at Head Office
Role of the Job:
To manage the company litigation processes

Key Result Areas:
• Develop litigation strategy and represent the bank in courts of law from time to time
• Managing litigation matters and supervising external lawyers and court Bailiffs.
• Carry out research to enhance and bolster cases for and against Finance Trust.
• Draft legal pleadings in defense of the company’s interests, where court action is preferred.
• Ensure timely filing of all pleadings.
• Ensuring perfection of securities pledged to the Bank prior to disbursement of credit facilities.
• Ensure that all securities received are forwarded to the responsible Departmental staff for processing of searches, caveats and mortgage registrations, among other requests.
• Maintain a record in hard and soft copy of all securities received from branches and properly track their movement.
• Implement an effective custody & retrieval system of all loan securities.
• Prepare and issue Mortgage and Caveat Release letters on demand.
• Ensure that release letters are signed off by the authorized bank Officials and duly issued as per Finance Trust Bank guidelines.
• Draft and review all contracts that are binding on the company to ensure the Bank’s interests are fully protected.
• Review loan files for completeness and advise accordingly.
• Prepare opinion memos for the Legal Manager to peruse and advise.
• Advise on best way to resolve cases without exposing the company’s image as well as mitigating its loss.
• Keep the legal team abreast with the latest dynamics in the legal fraternity.
• Provide legal advice and opinion from time to time.
• Provide legal support to other bank departments from time to time.
• Handle staff & customer enquiries from time to time.

Minimum qualification requirements and Personal attributes for this position:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Law from a recognized university.
• Diploma in Legal practice from Law development Centre.
• Three (3) years’ experience in legal practice gained from a financial institution or a busy law firm.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure.
• Good personal presentation skills.
• Good teamwork skills.
• Willingness to travel upcountry
