dfcu Bank is a fast-growing Bank in Uganda offering a wide range of financial solutions to its chosen market segments. We are seeking to recruit for the position of Head- Human Capital in the Charge and Innovation domain (CCIO)

REPORTING TO: Chief Change and Innovation Officer (CCIO)

JOB PURPOSE: Reporting to the Chief Change and Innovation Officer (CCIO), the role holder will be responsible for transforming the company’s most valuable human resource into a highly productive team. To achieve company goals by aligning Business and HR strategy through Policy formulation and Implementation in key HR Pillars of Resourcing, Training and Development, Career and Talent Management, Reward and Retention across the organization. The incumbent is responsible for the strategic human resource planning to provide the organization with the best people talent available and to position the organization as the employer of choice by being aware of policies, practices, and trends within the industry

LOCATION: Kampala

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Responsible for implementing and formulating human resources strategies to enable the business to deliver its goals thereby becoming a strategic partner through effective and efficient management of People.
  • Support execution of the overall bank strategy by establishing department accountabilities, including talent acquisition, staffing, training and development, succession planning, employee relations and retention.
  • Manages human resources by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, counselling, and disciplining staff; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing staff job descriptions; determining productivity and quality of work as a strategic partner.
  • Develops human resource financial strategies by estimating, forecasting, and anticipating requirements, trends, and variances; aligning monetary resources; developing action plans; measuring and analysing results; initiating corrective actions; minimizing the impact of variances.
  • Promotes a Performance Culture within dfcu Bank by implementing a business results focused performance management system and ensure uniformity in implementation across the company.
  • Develops human resource planning models to identify competency, knowledge and talent gaps and develop specific programs to fill the identified gaps. Areas of activity will include talent management through proper succession planning programs for key contributor and management positions, training, and development programs for preparing employees for more significant responsibilities.
  • Equips dfcu Bank with a high performing team of employees and implementing Training and Development programmes to fill the gaps identified in liaison with Line Managers.
  • Implement a competitive yet cost efficient reward systems that drives results and enables dfcu bank to attract and retain competent and high performing employees.
  • Maintains effective internal communication to all employees on HR-related issues and with external statutory and non-statutory HR related institutions in order to facilitate information flow and compliance to statutory requirements.
  • Manages industrial relations in a manner that ensures harmonious employee relations and compliance with labour legislation/laws.
  • Supports management by providing human resources advice, counsel, and decisions; analysing information and applications.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in conferences and educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE and COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in HR or a Degree level education preferably in Social Sciences (BA Sociology, BBA, BA Social Policy, BA SWSA, Organisation Development, or related disciplines).
  • Post Graduate diploma in in Human Resource Management.
  • MBA with a bias in HR is added advantage.
  • Specialized training in Employment law, compensation, organisation planning and development and Employee relations.
  • Membership to HR professional body e.g. MCIPD.
  • Advanced leadership training.
  • At Least 10 years of Human Resources Experience with at least 4 years in a senior managerial role heading a HR Department in an organisation of 1000+ employees.
  • Industry and business awareness.
  • Leadership and managerial skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal & negotiation skills.
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Good organisation skills.
  • Demonstrated exceptional communication skills (verbal, written and presentation) at all levels.
  • High degree of business and or professional networks.
  • Expert knowledge of the Uganda labour laws and familiarity with the International Labour laws.
  • Excellent communications and engagement skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and personal effectiveness.
  • High-level of integrity and strong entrepreneurial skills.
  • Strong skills at relationship building.
  • Self-drive and initiative.
  • Strong leader with soft-power skills.
