Job Description
East-West Management Institute, Inc. (EWMI) invites applications from highly qualified experts and nationals of Uganda, for the position of Organizational Development Coordinator for its USAID-funded Civil Society Strengthening Activity (CSSA). USAID/Uganda CSSA is a five-year Activity that supports the capacity strengthening of Ugandan civil society organizations (CSOs) to influence and contribute to improved development outcomes in three thematic areas: (1) health, with particular attention paid to achieving Uganda’s HIV/AIDS reduction goals: (2) agriculture and food security; and (3) democracy, rights, and governance.
This is a full-time long-term position with relevant benefit package. It is based in Kampala and will require some travel to other regions of Uganda.
Main Responsibilities:
• The Organizational Development Coordinator (ODC) will assist CSSA’s efforts to strengthen the organizational and advocacy capacity of Ugandan CSOs.
• S/he will coordinate training, mentoring and other capacity-building efforts relevant to CSSA’s objectives.
• S/he plans, develops, implements and administers development and training programs for CSOs.
• S/he also acts as liaison and advisor to the organization’s leadership and facilitates initiatives that will strengthen their efforts to advance civil society development in Uganda.
Required Qualifications:
• A minimum of seven years of experience overseeing the provision of organizational development support to civil society:
• A Master’s degree in organizational development, or in a relevant field; or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 15 years’ experience;
• Extensive knowledge of skills development and capacity building strategies;
• Experience designing and implementing effective organizational and advocacy capacity training programs;
• Superb writing and analytical skills as well as excellent verbal communication in
• English;
• Exceptional interpersonal and time-management skills;
• Experience working on USAID-funded projects is preferred.
