Job Description
The African Institute for Investigative journalism (All) currently has a job opening for an associate Video Journalist. This opportunity is for a video journalist interested in grounding their career in investigative video journalism. The candidate will be involved as a producer, reporter, video operator, and video editor for investigative stories. The position involves working with the Alld technical team to develop and plan for live or recorded video segments. This can include setting up interviews, determining where a segment is to be shot, or selecting the different shots to be used. The position also involves compiling data from various sources, investigating, analyzing, writing their stories, and editing as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
• Shooting, and editing, content.
• Setting up for live events
• Contributing story ideas
• Setting up and shooting videos on location.
• Generating story ideas.
• Contributing to social media, especially Instagram,
• and Facebook, through availing video content
• Editing videos using Adobe Premiere
• Shooting footage
• Operating camera
Qualifications
• The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in journalism or any other relevant field
• At least two years of experience in a similar role working with a reputable organization.
• Knowledge of multiple editing software
• A high standard of editorial judgment, writing ability, and production skills based on substantial journalism experience.
• Ability to originate and develop programme ideas thorough understanding of production methods used in TV Broadcasting and the ability to use technical and operational skills across Television, Radio, and Online as required
• Detailed knowledge of the Editorial Policy and awareness of legal considerations applying to all types of output.
• A keen interest in and thorough knowledge of local, regional and national and, where appropriate international affairs and an awareness of the needs and interests of regional and local audiences.
