Job Description


The National Science, Technology, Engineering and Innovation Centre (NSTEIC) was created to enhance the technological and skill base of Ugandan graduates, craftsmen, technicians and engineers as well as instructors through the Flexible Factory Learning & Infrastructure Model covering the technology areas of construction engineering (including construction machinery technology & civil engineering technology), automotive technology, agricultural mechanization, industrial technology, metallurgy (especially. precision welding), and electronic & electrical R&D. The Centre responds to the need to create more jobs especially for the youth, improve on the competitiveness of Uganda’s products and firms, promote a culture of creativity and innovation, and improve the livelihoods of Ugandans. NSTEIC requires the services of dedicated, competent, innovative and result- oriented individuals for employment on a contract basis for the posts below;

The individuals recruited will be training others to perform the same skills the applicants already have. They will provide evidence that they are trainable in a number of areas necessary in Training of Trainers (ToT). This requires prior and ongoing experience in the relevant technical field. It also requires the demonstration of some of the competences in generic ToT.

To qualify, the applicant must have:
1.Ongoing practice experience in any of the respective specializations below:

Role Purpose
The Agricultural Engineer will be responsible for applying their knowledge of engineering technology to design agricultural structures, machinery and equipment as well as re-tooling of engineers, technician and craftsmen

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Works with agriculturalists to design structures, equipment, and processes.
2. Works in areas such as power systems and machinery design, structural and environmental engineering, and food and bioprocess engineering.
3. Performs extensive research and development to improve on agricultural machinery.
4. Specifies functional requirements during development phase.
5. Participates in design reviews for computer aided designs.
6. Estimate cost, reliability, and safety.
7. Generates specifications for parts and systems
8. Trains graduates, engineers, technicians and operators
9. Ensures designed systems function reliably and for a long time.
10. Designs power machines used for tilling, fertilization, harvesting and post harvesting technologies.
11. Prepares agriculture engineering budget.
12. Develops pest control methods and techniques.
13. Designs irrigation, drainage, and flood control systems.
14. Conducts research on latest trends in Agricultural Engineering and farming aspects.

Role Requirements: (Minimum Required Qualifications)
• Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering
• Three (3) years of experience in designs of Agricultural equipment, machinery and processes.
• Possession of a Master’s degree in Agriculture Engineering is an added advantage
• Membership with the Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers is an added advantage.

• A sound knowledge of computer aided design (CAD) and Computer Assisted engineering (CAE) software and 3D modelling
