Job Description


The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), reports to the Board of Directors and will be responsible for the overall strategic and operational performance of Simba Telecom and the achievements of the company’s Growth and Profitability agenda.

The CEO’s responsibility also extends to the effective management of the company in fulfillment of the declared objectives and within the framework of the policy laid down by Simba Telecom’s Board. This is an executive responsibility which is summarized in the following major items.

The Chief Executive Officer ensures the implementation and achievement of Simba Telecom’s current and future strategic direction set by the Board and ensures the delivery of strategic and operational key performance results, and outcomes, across the Company.

The Chief Executive Officer provides the mandate and leadership for the Executive and Management Team to work in partnership across their operational domains, lead and implement continuous improvements in business processes, leverage digital transformation, and ensure the delivery of customer-centric services.

The CEO is accountable for developing new business opportunities and sustaining valuable relationships with private and public sector stakeholders to ensure the company’s continuous expansion and business growth. The CEO position requires the right skills and mindset to assess and mitigate principal risks and compliance of the company’s business, together with its growth and profitability, and ensures that appropriate management and technological systems are in place for delivering the expected services, products, and performance.

Key Responsibilities:
The Chief Executive Officer is invested with broad responsibilities and as per Simba Telecom’s Corporate Governance policy and Operational guidelines.

Major responsibilities include:
• Strategic leadership of Simba Telecom as per the Board’s Approval of the Corporate Plan & compliance with Regulatory Policies and Governance.
• Financial Management.
• Strategic Planning, Strategic Thinking, Leadership, and Direction.
• Executive Leadership and People Management.
• Business Development, Brand Equity, and Customer Agenda/Value Propositions.
• Audit, Risk Management & Compliance.
• Corporate and Social Responsibility.

Qualifications
• Master’s degree in any business-related field

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
• 6 to 10 years in the C-Suite level
• Telecom experience is required
• A finance background is an added advantage
• Experience reporting to the board is required

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

• Ability to build consensus and relationships among executives, partners, and the workforce.
• Understanding of human resources and personnel management.
• Experience with corporate governance.
• Proven negotiation skills.
• Ability to understand new issues quickly and make wise decisions.
• Ability to inspire confidence and create trust.
• Ability to work under pressure, plan personal workload effectively, and delegate.
