Role of the Job:
The Senior Internal Auditor is responsible for planning, implementing and reporting on assigned audit engagements in accordance with the annual audit plan and manual and provides advice for improving bank operations.

Key Result Areas:
• Identify business objectives, understand risks inherent in activities to be audited and develop audit plans in assigned audit engagements
• To supervise staff on audit assignments to ensure timely completion of audit engagement projects.
• Manage the relationship between the audit team and the audit clients to ensure smooth completion of audit and to achieve audit objectives.
• Review work of subordinates on audit assignments and ensure quality audit work papers in compliance with audit standards and policy
• To perform field work and prepare quality working papers in compliance with audit standards and policy in assigned areas.
• To prepare quality drafts of audit reports for review by the assigned supervisor/manager
• Timely completion of assignments
• Manage the performance of the audit engagement team ensuring that each team member has plans and targets in place and is delivering; take appropriate corrective action as required, including coaching and mentoring.
• Appraise staff at the end of each audit engagement

Minimum educational and technical competence requirements:
• Bachelors in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Statistics.
• Part professional certification in audit related area such as – ACCA, CPA and CIA.
• At least 2 years of progressive audit experience
• At least 3 years of work experience in a financial institution.
• Risk based auditing experience
• IT auditing skills
• Good investigative and interviewing skills
• Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards
• Data analytics skills
• People management, including coaching and mentoring skills
• Conflict management and negotiation skills
• Problem identification and solution skills.
• The ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in written
• Good knowledge of MS Office applications.
