Main Purpose:
The Quality Engineer will focus on fiber quality works for all customers, the fiber optical distribution network and the specific sites related to fiber to ensure all works are up to both company and Industry Standards.

Job Title: Engineer – Quality Home Broadband
Reports to: Senior Manager – Technology, Home Broadband

Main Job Functions:
• This person will handle Contractor management in the delivery of fiber to the customer base.
• Responsible for supervision of fiber optic detailed network and solution design (Active GPON Transmission equipment, the Optical Distribution Network and related Customer premise Equipment) for different network and customer locations
• Review Bill of Materials and Bill of Quantities preparation for the different fiber works
• Coordination of equipment logistics for the different projects / Inventory management
• Right of Way approvals from relevant authorities in partnership with relevant partners.
• Responsible for overseeing the installation and commissioning of fiber optic cable, based on the Customer’s approved plans and specifications.
• Acceptance tests for all fibre works (including approval of traces) before handover to Operations environment.
• This person will also assist in coordinating existing subcontractors to ensure that fiber related incidents are being resolved in a timely manner.
• The person will ensure documentation for all projects and customers is completed timeously and within acceptable quality.
• This person will act as a technical advisor to department managers and will provide reporting of outsourced contracts and project management.

Education:
• BSc Electrical or Telecommunications Engineering.
• Or Diploma in Telecommunications Engineering or Electrical Engineering with Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification

Other Training:
• Fibre optics survey, design and implementation training (Google Earth, Microsoft Visio)
• Map reading and basic surveying skills.
• Fiber certification

Experience:
• At least four years’ experience in fibre design, implementation and quality delivery.
• One year’s Experience working with Right of Way process is an added advantage.
• 2 years’ Experience working on GPON technology is an added advantage.
• Should be able to drive a manual car with at least one year’s driving experience
