Job Description
Are you a dedicated and experienced security professional? Are you ready to take on a pivotal role in safeguarding our organisation, employees, facilities, and assets at Nexus Green locations in Uganda? If so, we want you to join our team as a Security Officer.
Management Duties:
• Subcontract and Supervise Security Service Providers: Select and manage external security service providers to ensure the safety and security of Nexus Green locations, employees, and assets. Monitor their performance and adherence to security protocols.
• Criminal Case Resolution: Investigate and resolve criminal cases that occur on company premises, work-related incidents, or at all Company Projects. Coordinate with law enforcement agencies as needed.
Documentation and Reporting: Prepare comprehensive security-related documents, including incident reports, proposals, and tactical or strategic initiatives. Maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Security Service Specifications: Draft detailed work schedules and specifications for various security service providers, outlining their roles and responsibilities.
• Budget Management: Develop budgets for security equipment required for all Company Projects. Ensure cost-effective procurement and maintenance of security assets.
• Procurement Oversight: Oversee the procurement process for selecting new security service providers, evaluating their capabilities and suitability for the organization’s needs.
• Security Advisory: Provide expert advice to senior management on security matters related to new project locations and potential risks. Collaborate on security strategies and precautions.
• Executive Protection: Secure public locations before the CEO/Chairperson attends public events such as conferences, public meetings, or other public appearances. Escort and manage the safety of the CEO/Chairperson during public settings.
• Crowd Management: Effectively manage large crowds and public gatherings during events involving the CEO/Chairperson, ensuring order, safety, and security.
• Threat Assessment: Identify suspicious behavior or unauthorized individuals at the office premises and during Company functions. Take appropriate measures to mitigate potential threats.
• Residential Security: Conduct security assessments to check for vulnerabilities at the CEO’s/Chairperson’s home and at public venues they may visit. Implement necessary security measures to safeguard their well-being.
These management duties demonstrate the comprehensive role of the Security Officer in overseeing security operations, protecting company interests, and ensuring the safety of key personnel like the CEO/Chairperson.
Operational Duties:
• Interagency Coordination: Collaborate and coordinate security operations and activities with public law enforcement, fire, and other relevant agencies to ensure a comprehensive and unified approach to safety and security.
• Continuous Education: Attend meetings, professional seminars, and conferences to stay informed about changes in executive-legislative directives, emerging security technologies, and industry best practices that impact security operations at Nexus Green.
• Training and Development: Take responsibility for training new security guards when necessary, ensuring that they are well-prepared to perform their duties effectively and in alignment with company security protocols.
• Asset Protection: Maintain a vigilant approach to ensure the safety and security of all company assets, including facilities, equipment, and sensitive information.
• Shift Supervision: Oversee and manage security guards across all shifts, providing guidance, support, and supervision to ensure consistent and high-quality security services.
• Training Needs Assessment: Identify training needs within the security team and draft training calendars to enhance the skills and capabilities of security personnel. Ensure that the team is well-prepared to respond to security challenges effectively.
• Regular Patrols: Conduct regular patrols of the building and its surrounding perimeter, as well as site visits to high-risk areas as needed, to proactively identify and address potential security threats and vulnerabilities.
These operational duties highlight the Security Officer’s role in maintaining a high level of security preparedness, staying updated on industry developments, training and supervising security personnel, and proactively safeguarding company assets and facilities.
Administration Duties:
• Policy Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to security policies and standards within the office, guaranteeing that all office operations align with established security protocols and guidelines.
• Event Security Planning: Strategically plan security arrangements for special and high-risk events, ensuring the safety and well-being of participants and attendees.
• Resource Management: Manage the procurement process for security-related supplies and equipment, efficiently ordering and maintaining necessary resources to support security operations.

• Communication Excellence: Proficient in effective communication, both verbal and written, to convey information clearly, facilitate collaboration, and maintain open channels of communication within the security team and with other stakeholders.
• Surveillance Proficiency: Skilled in surveillance techniques, including the use of surveillance equipment and technologies, to monitor and assess security situations and respond appropriately to potential threats.
• Strong Managerial Acumen: Possesses strong managerial skills to lead, supervise, and coordinate security personnel effectively, ensuring smooth operations and adherence to security protocols.
• Detailed Reporting: Demonstrates the ability to create comprehensive and accurate reports, documenting security incidents, investigations, and preventive measures in a clear and organized manner.
• Effective Delegation: Proficient in delegation skills, assigning tasks and responsibilities to team members based on their strengths and capabilities, ensuring efficient and productive security operations.

Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in any field.
• Experience: A minimum of 10 years of proven experience in a managerial security role, demonstrating leadership and expertise in security management and operations.
