The primary purpose of the assistant draughtsman is to draw and update electricity transmission network Infrastructure and plants and ensure that all documents in this respect are kept in an organized and secure manner in line with the Company Objectives

Job Title: Assistant Draughtsman (1 Post)
Department: Grid Development and Planning
Reports to: Draughtsman

Key Result Areas
i. Draw and update, in AutoCAD format or any other relevant software, transmission networks, system diagrams, maps and plants, substation plans, diagrams of connections, substation and lines equipment schematic diagrams, cable layouts, cable schedules, communication, protection, control drawings etc. complete with parameters
ii. Keep record (both in soft and hard copy) of all UETCL drawing and ensure proper filing in a safe and secure manner.
iii. Prepare inspection drawings and reports.
iv. Validate contractor as built drawings and report any discrepancies.
v. Ensure that relevant information necessary for System Planning, Operations and Maintenance, is regularly obtained from the field or from other sister companies.
vi. Retrieve and issue drawings to the relevant authorities as and when requested by the Drawing Office Supervisor or Principal Planning Engineer.
vii. Make reports on drawings and update the Drawing Office Supervisor on any changes made.
viii. Participate in the preparation of the Drawing Room Unit budget and its implementation.
ix. Participate in the supervision of feasibility studies.
x. And also, to carry out any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Minimum requirement: Higher diploma in Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.
i. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in power systems drawing.

BSC degree in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University is an added advantage
iii. Significant draughtsmanship experience in transmission infrastructure drawing of at least 2 years.
iv. A person with proven knowledge of Computer – Aided Design (Auto CAD) and design.
v. A person who understands the sensitivity of the position.
vi. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and a collaborative attitude
vii. Ability to withstand stressful work situations and have willingness to work long hours outside the normal hours.
viii. A person of high integrity, highly motivated and a committed team player.
ix. Possess a National valid driving permit.
