About Refactory
Refactory Limited is an academy that seeks to address the challenge of youth unemployment by closing the skills gap for talent in software & tech-related fields in Africa. Refactory Limited (Refactory) was established by four partners; Clarke International University (CIU), Laboremus Uganda Ltd, and Fontes Foundation and Youth With A Mission UK.

Position Overview
The Talent Management Officer will be responsible for facilitating employment and internship opportunities for graduates of Refactory’s skilling programs. This role involves working with the Talent Management Lead to coordinate job placements, and provide support to Refactory graduates to ensure successful transitions into the workforce.

Specific Terms of Reference
The Talent Management Officer will be responsible for the following:

Key Responsibilities
Talent Matching and Placement
• Work closely with the Talent Management Lead to identify job opportunities that are suitable for the academy’s graduates.
• Match program graduates with suitable employment and internship opportunities based on their skills, qualifications, and career aspirations.
• Coordinate the recruitment process, including job postings, applicant screening, interview scheduling, and placement follow-up, to ensure a smooth transition into employment.
• Provide ongoing support to graduates during the job search process, including resume reviews, interview preparation, and career coaching
• Organize employer visits, recruitment drives, and networking events to connect graduates with potential employers.
• Attend outreach activities, including employer visits, networking events, and industry forums, to promote the program and foster relationships with potential employers.

Talent Support and Mentorship
• Provide career counselling, coaching, and guidance to program graduates on job search strategies, resume writing, interview preparation, and professional development.
• Support the set up of workshops, webinars, and training sessions on topics related to career readiness, workplace skills, and industry trends to enhance graduates’ employability.
• Create a comprehensive mentorship framework for Refactory Students addressing processes and systems for effective mentorship execution.
• Recruit and actively engage mentors as well as manage the mentorship relationships with the learners and graduates.
• Ensure all mentorship plans have the right goals and objectives and measure the success of the program.
• Maintain contact with program alumni to track their career progression, gather success stories, and assess the long-term impact of the program on graduates’ employment outcomes.

Collect feedback from employers on the performance of program graduates and the quality of their work placements to assess effectiveness of the academy’s placement efforts, identify areas for improvement and ensure employer satisfaction.

Data Management and Reporting
• Maintain accurate records of job placements, internships, and employer interactions using appropriate data management systems and tracking tools to assess the effectiveness of the academy’s placement efforts.
• Prepare regular reports on placement activities, challenges, and successes for review by the Talent Management Lead and other stakeholders in relation with program monitoring and evaluation.

Collaboration and Communication
• Work closely with the academy’s training team to ensure alignment between the training curriculum and industry needs.
• Collaborate with other team members to identify and address barriers to employment for female graduates.
• Represent the academy at industry events, conferences, and other relevant forums.

Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, career counselling, Social Work, Social Sciences or a related field.
• At least 2-3 years of experience in job placement, recruitment, or talent acquisition, preferably in the technology sector or workforce development programs.
• technology industry.
• Strong networking, relationship-building, and communication skills, with the ability to engage with employers and stakeholders at all levels.
• Experience providing career counselling, coaching, or support services to job seekers, preferably in a multicultural and diverse environment.
• Proficiency in data management and reporting tools, including Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or database software.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in employment practices and program initiatives.

Reporting Structure
The Talent Management Officer will report to the Talent Management Lead, and work in close collaboration with Programs.
