Job Description
Organization initiated in 2008, Pursuing a vision of “A Hunger and Malnutrition Free Uganda”. The Organization is engaged in the activities of fighting hunger in Uganda with a local, national and global perspective.
HFU is a WFP Cooperating Partner for General Food Assistance (GFA) and Livelihoods and Resilience Projects in Nakivale – Oruchinga and KyangwaliRefugee settlements in the South- Western part of Uganda.

HFU wishes to recruit volunteers to fill the position tenable in the GFA Project in Nakivale/Oruchinga refugee settlements in Isingiro District in the South –
Western of Uganda.

Job Purpose
Under the guidance and direct supervision of the ICT and Documentation Officer, the ICT Assistant will provide technical ICT and administrative support services to the entire HFU Team in the respective location. She/he will provide daily technical support to users of information management tools and technology infrastructure.
The ICT Assistant will provide operational support to the HFU’s core ICT operations as well as quality first line technical support to system users at the field level, to ensure optimal performance of both system infrastructure and personnel. The position holder will ensure that all project ICT Systems are maintained and operational to support management of the GFA implementation activities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Summary of key functions for the ICT Assistant
• Implementation of ICT management systems and strategies.
• Ensure effective functioning of the HFU Field office ICT hardware and software packages.
Support to establishment the robust Computer networks and administration.
Ensure Security of the ICT hardware and software Components.
• Contribute to web and systems management services.
• Conduct timely and periodic assessments on the HFU ICT systems and make recommendations to the effective functioning of the Information systems.
• Support in organization branding, re-branding and communication.
• Facilitation of knowledge sharing and staff capacity building.
Detailed Job Description
• Support the field office in implementing set standards for applications and systems that meets the needs of the users and supports the overall ICT infrastructure.
• Support the installation of the software packages, basic
repair/maintenance of computer hardware and other IT equipment.
• Ensure that ICT problem recovery is done as quickly as possible and make regular system back-ups.
• To decide on appropriate resolution to ICT related incidents and
• escalating incidents that cannot be resolved at the field office level.
• Participate in the formulation of HFU ICT and documentation proposals, processes, policies for planning and business continuity plan for approval.
• Monitor and maintain the LAN, Network Servers, Routers, Printers, LAN Points, Switches, Patch panels, Access points to prevent faults from occurring.
• Respond to user needs and questions regarding network access.
• Support the organization of off-site storage of backups.
• Support the maintenance, trouble-shooting and monitoring of the HFU website, systems and Intranet.
• Support in designing engaging graphical content to enhance HFU’s communication and branding efforts.
• Maintain the up-to-date inventory of ICT equipment and keep track of movements of ICT equipment.
• Evaluate needs for upgrading and eventually replacing ICT equipment in the field, to meet with HFU standards.
• Maintain the filing system ensuring safekeeping of confidential materials.
• Provision of ICT support during key events like Trainings, monitoring, reporting and any other cerebrations or functions
• Train HFU staff on email system and utilization of available communication channels and systems.
• Support the identification and management of risks and seek to seize opportunities impacting objectives in the area of responsibility.
• Participate and support the organization of trainings for the staff andpartners on ICT issues.
• Make sound contributions to knowledge networks and information dissemination
Other Project-Based Responsibilities
• Support in the set-up of the management and programmes information systems to enable effective and efficient project implementation.
• Support the configuration of servers and the setup of networks at Food Distribution Points (FDPs) during General Food Assistance (GFA) activities to ensure reliable connectivity and efficient operations.
Support the M&E Officer in developing workplans, detailed budgets and systems for monitoring and evaluation activities.
• Support in the extraction of data from various sources in collaboration with the M&E unit or other partners.
• Contribute to the development of the Field Implementation Plan (FIP), ensuring alignment with Field strategy, agreement on programme indicators and inclusion of monitoring and evaluation activities in the work plan.
• Perform other duties and tasks as assigned or required to support the ICT Unit.

Qualification
• Bachelor’s Degree (Honors) in Computer Science, Information Communication Technology, Computer engineering, Information Systems or related course from the recognized institution of higher learning.
• Post graduate training in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or Industrial Art and Graphics Design is an added advantage.
• Should have at least one IT verification preferably Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) or CCNP, Information technology infrastructure library (ITIL), CompTIA A+
Details of Experience
• At least 2 years of experience in an ICT Department of an NGO setting.
• Experienced in windows server configuration and management.
• Experienced in local and wide areas network and computer security management.
• Experienced in end – user support for systems and applications.
• Knowledgeable about CISCO routing and switching, VPN connectivity
• Knowledge of windows operating systems and Microsoft office.
• Fluent in English and interpersonal relations.
