Job Description


Established in 2013, Ruskov Uganda is a turn-key project solutions enterprise serving the healthcare sector with an interest in medical and hospital supplies, works and services.

Responsibilities of the Biomedical Engineer (BME)
• The BME is responsible for the facility’s medical equipment management, ensuring all equipment is installed and functioning well.
• Ensures Data on equipment utilization was collected and shared with management.

Report any issues (incidents) with equipment and continuously evaluate quality from suppliers.
• Manage spare parts requests, distribution and inventory.

Implement Ruskov Uganda biomedical maintenance programs, processes and procedures at the facility.
• Utilize and develop existing BME tools to improve tracking of medical equipment, usage and documentation of biomedical activities.
• Ensure timely completion of preventive maintenance schedules, following manufacturer’s instructions for inspection, testing and servicing; Review and approve proper medical equipment inventory reports with health facility managers and BMET technicians and apprentices
• Train clinicians, and medical equipment users on the proper use of biomedical equipment through equipment operation demonstrations and videos and develop quick-start user guides (to be placed on equipment).
• Review new or proposed medical equipment, install, calibrate, update software, repair and provide technical support for biomedical equipment at the facility.

Develop standard operating procedures for using, managing, and disposing of medical equipment when special needs arise.
• Develop preferred suppliers list for spares, reagents and consumables; Update specifications for Ruskov Uganda’s typical deliverables.
• Provide monthly and weekly reports on daily work activity at assigned sites to the Project Manager.

Skills and Requirements needed.
• Works independently in both routine and complex tasks. Should be able to prioritize work and initiate new work and tasks.
• Can utilize a computer to document reports.
• Must be willing to learn how to operate, test and repair a variety of medical equipment

Experience & Qualification
• Candidate with a biomedical engineering degree.
• Hands-on experience with critical equipment used in the diagnosis, therapy and treatment of pregnant mothers and newborn children.
• 3-5 years of experience working in the Medical Equipment Supply, Set up and Maintenance.
• At least 3 years of experience is required to maintain key hospital equipment like patient monitoring devices, oxygen concentrators, sterilizers and autoclaves, radiant warmers, incubators, and height and weight scales.
