The University seeks to recruit a competent and highly motivated individual to fill the position of Real Estates and Facilities Manager;
Reports to: Executive Director
Responsible for: Facilities Supervisor
Works Closely with: Accounts team
Main Purpose of the Job
The position holder will provide strategic leadership and oversight to the University’s Real Estates and Facilities ensuring that facilities are optimized and efficiently maintained to sustain the operations of the University.
Key Duties and Responsibilities;
- Oversee and manage the University’s real estate portfolio and physical facilities ensuring that all properties are optimized to support the University’s operations.
- Effectively manage all lease negotiations, renewals and ensure compliance with lease terms to ensure value for money.
- Identify, evaluate and execute real estate transactions that align with the University’s strategic objectives.
- Monitor key performance areas in line with the real estate’s portfolio including negotiations, renewals, compliance and lease expirations.
- Develop and implement the annual work plan and budget for the office and monitor budget performance.
- Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance plans to ensure the efficient operation and upkeep of university facilities, including preventive maintenance schedules and reactive maintenance protocols.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, security and environmental standards by conducting regular inspections, addressing safety concerns, and implementing necessary improvements.
- Coordinate with Procurement in supervising vendors, contractors, and service providers to deliver high-quality maintenance services, manage service contracts, and achieve cost-effective solutions for facility maintenance.
- Participate in capacity planning, and space utilization to ensure optimum utilization of space and plan for future space requirements to address the evolving needs for academic programs, administrative operations and student services.
- Effectively engage with both internal and external stakeholders such as landlords, utility providers and regulatory authorities for a seamless and constructive relationship that proactively supports the University’s operations.
Person Specifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Real estate management, Logistics, Project Management or a related field from a reputable university.
- Experience in facilities management is desirable.
- At least 5 (five) years’ experience in real estates & facilities management.
Desired Competences
- Demonstrated facilities management experience.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders such as vendors, contractors, landlords, senior leadership and staff.
- Aptitude in decision-making and working with numbers.
- Experience in collecting and analysing data.
- Strong leadership abilities, project management and working with cross functional teams.
- Proficiency in contract negotiations, vendor management and budgeting planning and execution.
- Should be a person of high moral character, integrity and professionalism.
