The National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC) is a corporate body under Ministry of Education and Sports. It is responsible for inter-alia development of curricular and related materials for various levels of education i.e Pre – primary, Primary, Secondary and some Tertiary institutions, organizing capacity building courses for stakeholders on curricular and matters related to curriculum.

  1. Assistant Curriculum Specialist position – CD6
  2. Assistant Editing and Publishing Officer – CD6

Reporting Lines:

  1. Assistant Curriculum Specialist Local Languages: Curriculum Specialist Local Languages
  2. Assistant Curriculum Specialist Special Needs Education: Curriculum Specialist
  3. Assistant Editing & Publishing Officer: Officer Editing and Publishing
  4. Laboratory Technician, Artisan Carpentry: Foreman

Job Purpose

  1. Assistant Curriculum Specialist Local
    Languages: To offer support in the curriculum development process in the area of local languages.
  2. Assistant Curriculum Specialist
    Special Needs Education: To offer support in the curriculum development process in the area of Special Needs Education.
  3. Assistant Editing and Publishing
    Officer: To edit and proofread curriculum materials.
  4. Laboratory Technician: To engage in the production and servicing of science laboratory equipment.
  5. Artisan Carpentry: To engage in the production of designed carpentry and metal works.

6. Terms of Service: Permanent; after serving a six 6) months probationary period.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS:

Qualifications – Assistant Curriculum

Specialist Local Languages

An Honour’s Bachelor’s Degree in Education with a bias in Bantu languages (Luganda, Lusoga, Runyankole – Rukiga, Runyoro –

Rutooro) or Honours Bachelor’s Degree with a qualification in Education.

Qualifications – Assistant Curriculum

Specialist Special Needs Education

An Honour’s Bachelor’s Degree in Education with a bias in Special Needs Education or Honour’s Bachelor’s Degree qualification in Special Needs Education.

Qualifications – Assistant Editing and Publishing Officer

Hons Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication or Journalism or Education, with English/Literature from a recognised Institution.

Qualifications – Laboratory Technician A minimum of a Diploma in Science and Technology-Physics Or a minimum of a Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology-Physics from a recognised Institution.

Qualifications – Artisan Carpentry

  1. A minimum of an Ordinary Level Certificate of Education.
  2. Certificate in Metal Works, or Carpentry and Joinery, from a recognized institution.

Work experience – Assistant Curriculum

Specialist Local Languages

At least three (3) years teaching experience in any of the Local languages (Luganda, Lusoga, Runyankole – Rukiga, Runyoro –

Rutooro)

Or as Curriculum Developer.

Work experience – Assistant Curriculum

Specialist Special Needs Education At least three (3) years teaching experience in Special Needs Education or as Curriculum Developer for Special Needs Education materials.

Work experience – Assistant Editing and Publishing Officer

At least three (3) years’ experience in editorial work from a reputable organization.

Work experience – Laboratory Technician At least two (2) years’ experience in Science Laboratory related fields.

Work experience – Artisan Carpentry At least two (2) years’ experience in Carpentry or Metal Works.

AGE LIMIT

1. Assistant Curriculum Specialist Local

Languages, Assistant Curriculum Specialist Special Needs Education, Assistant Editing and Publishing Officer:

25 – 40 Years

  1. Laboratory Technician: 25 – 40 Years
  2. Artisan Carpentry: 23 – 45 Years
