Job Description
Uganda Youth Development Link (UYDEL) is seeking a qualified Mental Health Nurse / Project Counsellor to provide psychosocial support to adolescent girls and their partners. The role involves delivering mental health services, building community awareness, and integrating emotional well-being into broader reproductive health and climate resilience programming.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Conduct mental health screenings and provide individual and group counseling to adolescent girls and their partners.
- Develop personalized care and referral plans in collaboration with health facilities and project teams.
- Facilitate group therapy sessions and psychoeducation activities.
- Work alongside project staff and community health workers to embed mental health into SRHR and climate resilience efforts.
- Train peer educators, caregivers, and community leaders in mental health awareness and support strategies.
- Monitor and document mental health trends, service outcomes, and case studies for reporting and learning.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
- Diploma or Degree in Mental Health Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing.
- Must be registered with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with adolescents, preferably in community-based or NGO settings.
- Understanding of climate change and its impact on mental and reproductive health is a strong asset.
- Proficient in interpersonal communication, case documentation, and teamwork.

- Experience working in under-resourced or climate-vulnerable communities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
