On behalf of Our client in the Manufacturing Sector, we are looking for competent and experienced Shift Engineer to be based in Jinja.

Reports To:

Production/Manufacturing Head.

Duty Station:

Jinja, Uganda.

Job Summary:

The Shift Engineer will be responsible for overseeing daily production operations, ensuring efficient use of resources, and maintaining high-quality standards.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate production activities during assigned shifts.
• Ensure production targets are met while maintaining safety and quality standards.
• Monitor and optimize process efficiency, identifying areas for improvement.
• Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues or production problems.
• Lead and develop a team of production staff.
• Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures.
• Collaborate with maintenance team for equipment upkeep
• Prepare production reports and analyse data for improvement opportunities.
• Optimize production processes and equipment utilization.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with production equipment
• Implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs
• Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
• Monitor and report on production metrics (output, downtime, quality)

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

Science

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment preferably steel production
• Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with production planning and quality control.
• Familiarity with safety standards and regulations.

Working Conditions:

• Shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays, 12hours per day operation.
• Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, and machinery
