Job Description
Global Health Uganda (GHU) is a registered not for profit, limited liability company with the mission to promote child health by conducting and facilitating quality and relevant research in child health, neurodevelopment and interventions. Global Health Uganda (GHU) invites applications from suitably qualified individuals to fill the position of Procurement Officer.
Position Purpose:
The Procurement Officer will be responsible for ensuring efficient, compliant, and cost-effective procurement of goods, services, and works in support of GHU’s vision and mission. The role ensures adherence to organizational policies, donor regulations, and sound procurement practices while promoting accountability and effective resource utilization.

1) Procurement & Supply Chain Management
- Plan and execute procurement processes that ensure timely acquisition of high-quality goods, services, and equipment in line with program and administrative needs.
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with GHU policies, donor guidelines, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Identify, prequalify, and manage suppliers to promote competition, value for money, and transparency.
- Lead supplier negotiations, contract management, and performance monitoring to ensure full delivery against agreed terms.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management or a related field.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in procurement in a busy organization, preferably within a medical research environment.

- Strong knowledge of donor-compliant procurement processes and value-for-money principles.
- Excellent negotiation and contract management skills, including full contract lifecycle administration.
- Strong analytical and financial skills, with the ability to interpret budgets, cost models, and market data.

- Demonstrated ability to identify and manage supply chain risks.
