M-Talents Consulting is supporting an international recruitment assignment for an experienced Mechanical Design & R&D Engineer to join an international engineering and automation environment in Italy.This is an exciting opportunity for a mechanical engineer with strong experience in automated machinery, mechanical design, product development and R&D to contribute to the development of innovative automation solutions.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, testing and optimisation of automated machinery and mechanical systems.You will work closely with international engineering and automation teams, including colleagues in Italy, Spain and China, contributing to projects from initial concept through prototype development, testing and validation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimise automated machinery and mechanical systems.
• Lead mechanical development projects from concept through design, prototyping, testing and validation.
• Create 3D models, assemblies and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
• Collaborate with automation engineers on mechanical integration and equipment debugging.
• Participate in prototype development, testing and industrial field trials.
• Analyse technical problems and develop practical engineering solutions.
• Support equipment commissioning and optimisation.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams and suppliers during assembly and commissioning.
• Prepare technical documentation, test reports and manufacturing documentation.

What We Are Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related discipline.
• Professional experience in mechanical design and development of automated machinery.
• Strong experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Experience with customised/non-standard automation equipment.
• Good knowledge of machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding and assembly.
• Experience taking products from concept through prototype, testing and validation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently in an international engineering environment.
• Willingness to participate in prototype testing, commissioning and occasional travel.
