Job Description


Job purpose:

  • The Head Enterprise Data Office is responsible for managing data as a corporate asset. The role drives innovation through data and analytics and the promotion of an enterprise-wide data-driven work culture. The Head Enterprise Data Office develops a long-term data strategy aligned with business priorities, and ensures that organizational structures and skills are in place to support this strategy.

Key responsibilities

  • Develops a medium- and long-term data roadmap and operational framework to meet the bank and regulatory priorities
  •  Ensures continuous optimization of data governance practices for consistent, secure and synchronized data availability throughout business functions in accordance with all the Bank policies
  • Works to decrease the costs of collecting, managing, and sharing data while increasing the value of data
  • Identifies and explores new business areas and opportunities enabled by data analytics
  • Works closely with the Business Unit leaders to evangelize enterprise data sharing and collaboration and to promote the enterprise-wide use of data and analytics.
  • Promotes an enterprise-wide data-driven decision-making culture and ensures organizational structures and skills are in place to support this culture
  • Builds organization-wide data management capabilities through brokering access to data sources and providing upskilling opportunities

Data Management Competencies

Business Knowledge and insight – Business knowledge that will contribute to exposing patterns, an aptitude to understanding how the business functions and the underlying strategy which supports the business model Legislative
Regulatory knowledge – Industry legislative and regulatory knowledge with an understanding of impact and implications to Bank operations and how they are to be addressed

Information Lifecycle Management – Understanding of the flow of an information system’s data and associated metadata from creation and initial storage to the time when it
becomes obsolete and is deleted

Aligning Insights with business strategies – Take the insights and implications found in the data and relate them through cohesive narratives to influence customer strategies

Data Governance Standards and processes – The ability to plan, implement, integrate and control activities and processes to provide high quality data that is fit for the organisations
purposes. The overall management of the availability, usability, integrity, and
security of the data employed in an enterprise.

Data quality Management – The ability to plan, implement, integrate and control activities and processes to provide high quality data that is fit for the organisations
purposes

Required Proficiency Levels on Skills / Competencies:

  • Qualifications /knowledge: Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Analytics, Computer Science or related fields; master’s preferred.

Business/ Commercial Knowledge:

  • Ability to define strategic initiatives and oversee the development of longterm plans and proposals.
  • Ability to effectively drive business, culture, and technology change in a dynamic and complex operating environment.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate, allocate, and manage resources and projects across multiple teams
  • Knowledge of trends and developments in the fields of data management and data analytics
  • Information management and quantitative skills, including working knowledge of IT infrastructure, various technologies/platforms, and enterprise-specific vendor solutions.
  • Industry-specific knowledge of data security protocols, policies, and regulations.
  • Exceptional analytical, written, oral, and presentation skills with proven track record of effectively communicating actionable insights.
  • Exemplary diplomatic skills and ability to help senior business leaders see value, opportunities, and risks beyond their own area of expertise
  • Ability to understand problems from a broad perspective and anticipate the impact of administrative issues and solutions.

Experience

  • Over Seven years of leadership experience in leading/managing cross-functional teams
  • Over five years of experience in managing enterprise data strategy and multiyea roadmaps
  • Over five years of experience in data analytics, data mining, and data governance

Personal competencies

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills – oral and written
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to operate at multiple levels and buil relationships with a broad range of stakeholders
  • Ability to work with others in both authority and non-authority relationships on an ongoing basis
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and project assignments in a complex and dynamic environment
  • Analytic skills and ability to handle complex technical data, to simplify complexit and communicate concepts clearly
