JOB DETAILS:

Our client Centenary Bank would like to recruit an Executive Director. Reporting to the Managing Director. the Executive Director will be responsible for developing the Bank’s strategies and plans while ensuring their alignment with short- term and long-term objectives; developing a high performance culture and, ultimately overseeing all business support activities to ensure they deliver the desired results and are consistent with the overall strategy and mission of the Bank.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Drive the institutional change and continued innovation through a period of transformation as well as representing the Bank to clients, external partners and agencies.
• Lead in the formulation of the Bank‘s strategic and business plans in consultation with the Board.
• Lead in the development of the Bank’s strategic and risk management plan and its implementation
• Develop, manage and direct the strategic activities oi the legal division, overseeing the implementation of good governance principles across the entire organisation and providing statutory and legal advice to the Bank.
• Promptly advise management of the decisions taken by the Board of Directors and its Committees and particularly those requiring management action.
• Responsible for the delivery of cost-effective corporate services across all the Bank’s divisions and locations.

• Lead the development, review, implementation, and evaluation of the effectiveness of administrative strategies. providing oversight support in the management and security of the physical assets and estates of the Bank in line with the Bank ‘s corporate objectives and annual work plans.
• Provide leadership in the development and implementation of strategic human resource policies, organisation development programmes, performance management systems and strategic oversight oi the human resource division.
• Provide leadership to the Bank’s ICT systems by driving, strategy including oversight of ICT projects in accordance with the Bank ‘s policies, procedures, and standards.
• Provide oversight to the development and implementation of credit management strategies to grow the Banks portfolio whilst maintaining acceptable portfolio quality, in line with the Banks credit policies. mission and vision.
• Provide oversight and leadership in the development and implementation of strategic centralized back office operations.
• Act as the bridge between the Bank and its external partners, clients and agencies, by building strong working relationships with external partners, clients, and agencies.
• Promote and effectively communicate the Bank’s programs and accomplishments, and capably represent the Bank at official functions and meetings.
• Lead the development of Bank systems. procedures, and resources required to fill its mandatory compliance and reporting requirements.
• Direct the creation of policies and procedures necessary for the operation of the Bank and implement all policies and procedures adopted by the Board of Directors.
• Oversee the compliance with all Bank of Uganda and all the country ‘s other laws, statutes, rules, and regulations.
• Lead, attract, and retain talented teams of other executive leaders for high performance, including providing transformational leadership to meet and surpass the expectations of the Bank ‘s stakeholders
• Lead, inspire and coach a team of high caliber professionals, creating succession to key roles and enhancing Bank management capability.

Qualifications and Experience

• A Master’s Degree in a Business-related field or a Professional Qualification in Banking. Finance or Marketing.
• The ideal candidate must be a prudent manager and inspiring leader, a strategic thinker with business acumen and with an in-depth understanding of the banking and financial services industry.
• At least twenty (20) years working experience of which fifteen (15) years must be in a banking or financial services sector, and with not less than five (5) years relevant senior managerial and executive experience in a reputable company or organisation.
• An entrepreneurial mindset, with outstanding organisational. leadership. analytical thinking, with excellent problem solving and project management skills.
• Experience in financial management with excellent communication, presentation and public speaking skills.
