Job Summary:

The Internal Auditor will assess and provide assurance on the efficiency and effectiveness of internal controls, investigate stakeholder concerns and provide additional review and consultancy services to help the organization achieve its objectives and bring a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct internal audits in accordance with the annual risk-based plan; communicate findings and recommendations to management through the Manager Internal Audit.
  • Conduct internal audit investigations and special reviews of processes and systems as assigned by Head of Internal Audit.
  • Track the implementation of agreed internal audit (including Global Internal Audit) recommendations with senior management, department managers and staff.
  • Prepare and conduct compliance/internal control trainings for partners and staff on internal controls, risk management, policies and procedures, laws and regulations.
  • Assist the Manager Internal Audit in identifying and evaluating the organization’s risk areas and provide input to the development of the annual audit plan.
  • Carry out scheduled as well as impromptu/spot check audits as and when deemed necessary; prepare reports for discussion with supervisor.
  • Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor and/or management from time to time.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
  • Professional Accounting or Auditing qualifications such as ACCA, CPA, CISA, CIA. Membership of the Institute of Internal Auditors Uganda is desirable.
  • At least three years of experience in internal and external audit, finance, risk management in a reputable NGO, commercial organization or institution.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to interact across all levels of staff and across all business units.
  • Clear and concise oral and written communication skills and the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Capable of working independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to travel nationally 60% of time.
