Job Title: E-Commerce Business Lead
Reporting to: Programs Manager
Supervising: eCommerce Product team/program officers

Location: Based in Kampala with travel around Uganda. .
About the role
We are looking for an innovative, and team-oriented E-commerce Business Lead to create unmatched eCommerce experiences for our clients. The eCommerce Product team is focused on delivering experiences that are both seamless and delightful to shop.
The eCommerce Business Lead’s main role will be to manage the entire e-commerce presence, responsible for driving business value through identification, delivery, and optimization of initiatives supporting the site experience. Primary responsibilities will include developing and evangelizing product strategy (search features/payment options/site refresh), execution and measurement of strategy, and fostering product innovation and improvement through collaboration. An ideal candidate will have 2+ retail ecommerce experience. A candidate must have strong communication skills and be comfortable working cross-functionally and across all levels of the organization.
Delivery 50%
• Dive in when needed taking on ad hoc strategy and research initiatives for the eCommerce site (e.g., competitor capabilities research, identifying industry best practices and benchmarks, etc.)
• Blend strong business acumen, technical problem solving and agile execution in eCommerce environment
• Define the user journey through story mapping and document detailed business requirements through user stories and acceptance criteria
• Leads initiatives from start to finish—ideation, vendor selection, design, implementation, rollout, and optimization
• Ensures that end product meets quality and business specifications for the site
• Participates in day to day tactical work including: gathering requirements, writing effective user stories, defining acceptance criteria for items
• Ensures that all decisions related to product support business and customer objectives
• Actively manages vendor relationships to drive great teamwork, high performance, and
• ROI.
Product Strategy 30%
• Owns and drives functionality for 2-3 large areas of site experience, serves as product expert for those areas. Responsible for product improvements and decisions that maximize value to customers and business.
• Engages in on-going consumer research, analysis, and testing to identify pain points and opportunities. Translates user needs into product strategy.
• Research and identify new opportunities to innovate in eCommerce. Looks outward to research, market, competitive set, and vendors to identify new opportunities and present to team and stakeholders. Evaluate ideas and drive adoption of leading ideas.
• Builds business case for new initiatives
• Consistently tracks and publishes KPIs to measure impact of site on women’s lives.
Communication & Collaboration 20%
• Presents product strategy, data based recommendations, and outcomes to cross-functional team and executive leadership. Develops and presents on-going performance metrics for product focus areas.
• Works directly with stakeholders leading and collaborating on strategy, requirements, and implementation. Ensures buy-in across stakeholder and partners
• Evangelizes technology and innovation across organization.
Required Experience:
• 2 + years of retail (eCommerce) experience and Bachelor’s degree in related field
• Experience with Google Analytics or similar product
• Experience with Microsoft Office products
• Must be flexible and have the ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Extreme attention to detail is a must for this position
• Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as accept direction on given assignment
• Strong communication, teamwork, and cross-functional skills
• Based out of our Kampala Office with travel sometimes to our upcountry branches.
Performance measurement
• % of sales KPIs e.g. revenue, sales results, contribution margin based on cube data
• Sales-oriented placement of products, promotions and brands in online shop
• Creation, implementation and evaluation of online sales promotions and other direct marketing activities
• Development of customer retention program e.g. bonus program
