Job Description


Sim Plastics (U) Ltd is a plastics manufacturing company dealing in the production of different shapes of plastic containers mainly supplied to our sister company Movit Products Ltd.
The company is seeking to recruit a highly competent, motivated and professional individual to fill the position of Production Controller.
Job Summary:
The production controller shall be fully responsible for the production department in charge of planning, implementation of Strategy, Business goals, policies and Audit recommendations and managing the resources allocated to ensure business value for money.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead the department within budget to meet daily, weekly and monthly production targets with strict compliance to the requirements of quality assurance and Control.
• Responsible for developing an enthusiastic and motivated workforce within the production section, manage them efficiently to ensure best practices, policies and procedures and being implemented
• Supervise all production processes to ensure products meet both customer quantity and quality requirements and make sure business objectives are met.
• Control production plans, identifying risks, develop inventory control techniques to avoid shortages, excesses and Provide work instructions to Material handlers
• Work with the Line Manager to plan and manage production tasks to improve run time.
• Plan and monitor material movement in production cycles to ensure continuous operations.
• Monitor execution of job orders and adjust schedules for timely delivery.
• Coordinate with the manager in resolving production planning and control issues.
• Communicate production updates to managers and customers on a regular basis.
• Draft daily, weekly and monthly production reports and discuss them with the manager.
• Perform administrative tasks as assigned by the Production Manager and give a report on the progress
• Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing usage of PPEs and proper housekeeping through implementation of 5S while complying to statutory requirements.
• Manage manpower allocation on machines for improved performance and continuous evaluation of human resources.
• Train and coach production teams on machine operation and capacity utilization using manufacturing best practices
• Develop lead indicator KPI’s with the team to provide early warning signals.
• Coach and fully support SMF L1- production teams.
• Perform material reconciliation and identify possible material losses and come up with mitigation measures to reduce the material losses.
• Participate in formal problem solving to identify root causes for repetitive issues and find permanent solutions.
• Identify possibility of production optimization to improve on production output
• Ensure there is synergy between production and the rest of the operations and support functions.
• Attend any other duties as assigned by the Production Manager.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
• Bachelors of Mechanical /Manufacturing Engineering from a reputable institution of higher learning with at least 4 years of working experience preferably in a plastics manufacturing set-up
• Professional accreditation with an institution of professional engineers would be advantageous.
• Understanding of business strategy implementation
• Ability to use basic problem solving tools (5why, Ishikawa, Pareto)
