Job Description
FRC is an NGO promoting adult education and community development among refugees since 1997 as an operational partner to OPM and UNHCR and implementing partner to WFP.
FRC is specialist organisation in adult education, offering trainings on literacy, other languages and on business skills.
FRC seeks to employ Ugandans for a short-term position of:
Training Material Development Officer – Kampala.
Duration; From August to 31st December 2021
Key tasks;
In relation to newly designed curriculum on Functional Adult Literacy for refugees;
• Roll out the new literacy curriculum by orientating project staff and volunteer instructors to the material.
• Develop and design additional teaching materials to support the new literacy curriculum.
• Design standardised final exam packages – based on the new curriculum – for testing adult literacy learners in the end of the course.
• Orientate the project staff and volunteer instructors into use of standardised final exam packages.
In regard of Business Skill training;
• Review and revise the current materials in order to improve the content and delivery.
• Facilitate pre-testing of the revised Business Skill course materials.
• Orientate project staff and volunteer instructors in the use of the materials.
Other
• Oversee the possible translation of relevant materials into languages used by refugees.
• Oversee quality printing and production of training materials.
• Keep database of the training materials developed.
Academic Qualifications and competencies:
• Bachelors’ degree in adult education / education / curriculum design & development.
• At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience on developing and revising training materials. Experience should include proven involvement in developing materials for adults.
• Knowledge of design softwares, including basic computer software.
• Ability to implement and design training of trainers activities.
• Strong communication skills with excellent verbal and written English skills.
• Proactive and creative attitude, ability to work independently.
