Job Description


SAA is a Non-Profit Non-Governmental International Organization that promotes demonstration and widespread adoption of improved pre- and post-production agricultural technologies for smallholder farmers in Uganda. The Organization wishes to recruit highly competent, organized, pro-active, self-driven and experienced professionals to fill the positions for its Smallholder Horticulture Empowerment and Promotion Approach (SHEP) in Adjumani region. The project targets to work with 1,200 farmers organized in 60 farmer groups in 6 sub counties of Adjumani District. This project is 11 months running up to March 2022.

Accountant (1 Position)

Duties and Responsibilities:
General accounting tasks, including reconciling and maintaining
balance sheet accounts and general ledger operations, preparing journal entries, preparing monthly closing and financial reports, preparing account/bank reconciliations:
Ensure all expenses are within assigned project budget and verify the completeness of all required supporting documentation for all payments voucher;
Ensure account receivables and payables activities are performed accurately and timely; Ensure timely and accurate monthly and Quarterly closure of accounts, including bank reconciliation, and submit reports to the Finance Officer as per prescribed deadlines;
Ensure financial data on the accounting software, Navision Dynamic 2017 is updated;
Prepare Monthly, quarterly and Annual Financial reports and present for review in appropriate timeframes

Academic Qualifications and Work Experience
A University degree in Commerce, Business Administration or any related discipline. Extra professional training (ACCA, CPA or similar certification) and relevant Masters will be an added advantage.
Good experience in the Navision Dynamic Accounting system.
A minimum of 6 years’ experience in a reputable NGO is a pre-requisite.
