About US:
Makerere University, Kampala is Uganda’s largest and oldest institution of higher learning, first established as a technical school in 1922. It became an independent national university in 1970. Today, Makerere University is composed of nine colleges and one school offering programmes for about 36,000 undergraduates and 4,000 postgraduates.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- To assist Administrative Secretary, I in providing secretarial services to units.
- Receive and answer telephone calls.
- Arrange for meetings.
- Provide Secretarial services.
- Receive and/dispatch mails.
- File documents
- Arrange Appointments for the Head of the Division/unit
- Perform any other official duties assigned by the Senior Assistant Registrar
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The Administrative Secretary should hold a Diploma in Secretarial Studies or Office Management from a recognized institution or UNEB Certificate in the following subjects; Typing I, II, &III, Business English/Communication I, II, & III, Short hand I &II, Office Practice, Secretarial Duties II and Office management
- One year of working experience in secretarial work
- Ability to handle clients in a courteous manner
- A team player with good interpersonal skills
- Good communications skills
- Proficiency in using MS Office with a typing speed of at least 50 wpm.
- Must be a good time manager
- Age Limit: Below 40 years
