The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development through the Directorate of Geological Survey and Mines (Mines Department) is implementing the Mineral Wealth and Mining Infrastructure Project and Minerals Laboratories Equipping and systems Development Project.
In order to implement the above project efficiently and effectively, the Ministry seeks to recruit competent, trained and well-motivated persons to fill a number of vacancies in the Directorate of Geological Survey and Mines. The positions are on contractual basis and subject to renewal upon satisfactory performance.
Job Title: Askari (8 POSITIONS)
Reports to: Inspector of Mines (Regional Offices)
Location: Mbarara, Kabale, Tororo and Moroto
Job Purpose:
To provide security services to the organization. .

Key Functions
• Patrol premises to ensure maximum security;
• Keep security at all entry points to the regional office
• Maintain security of government vehicles
• Apprehend and question suspects for proper identification;
• Check and properly lock premises at the close of the day;
• Directing visitors to the reception for more information, and
• Report theft cases and prepare reports to the authorities;

Person Specifications Qualifications
• O’ Level Certificate with a training in Security a must have.
• Speaking the native language is a must have.
• Competences: Security Planning and organizing, accountability self-confidence; Ethics and integrity; Communication; Public relations and customer care and Time Management; and
