Job Description
The care & treatment Officer is responsible for overall planning, managing of care & treatment activities implemented in the region. Implement TB/HIV care & treatment in alignment with up to date MoH guidelines
Overall Responsibilities
• Coordinate and assist with supportive supervision and mentoring of community-based and facility-based Health Care Workers in the day-to-day implementation of TB/HIV collaborative activities.
• Provide support to the effective referral system of tuberculosis and HIV patients to ensure integration of TB and HIV services within the district.
• Document gather, and analyse records of TB/HIV collaborative activities at supported facilities, as well as case-based information in electronic format.
• Work closely with the National TB Control Program (NTP), WHO, NGO partners and other Stakeholders in identifying program priorities, developing strategies and coordinating Implementation of MDR-TB activities;
• Participate in all TB/HIV forums at local level and provide updates as required.
• Work with the district TB coordinators, HIV focal persons and Facility in charges to support them to provide regular updates to stakeholders regarding implementation of the TB/HIV collaborative activities.
• Provide technical support to sub-grantees in developing work plan in accordance with project Objectives and scope of work; Technical support supervision for CBO’s and sub grantees with indicators related to TB.
• Provide technical directions and support to the NTP and sub-recipient NGO partners in planning and implementing MDR-TB activities as required;
• Participate in workshops, seminars, task force and expert committees to identify policy, technical and programmatic gaps in Multi-drug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) diagnosis and treatment and Infection Control; update partners and stakeholder on TB CARE activities;
• Provide technical support in developing systems, tools, job aids Information education and communication (IEC) as required for improving diagnosis and treatment of TB/MDR-TB, infection prevention, monitoring and supervision;
• Monitor implementation of planned activities through periodic consultations, monthly progress review meetings, reports review, and field trips. Provide written feedback for improving performance.
• Monitor project deliverables and timeliness, notify the Team Leader when issues arise, and take corrective actions, as needed.
Required Qualification, Experience and Competencies:
• MBChB or its equivalent from a recognized University/Institution. Must be registered with Medical and Dental Practitioners Council applications (MS Word and Excel). At least two years of relevant work experience in the field of TB and HIV control activities with at least one year in a supervisory role. At least 3 years of experience in managing a corporate function, managing performance driven programs, managing the change process. Good experience in mentorships/coaching and transition management; with a reputable international NGO. Experience with government and donor representatives. Have Key personal competences in Team management, communication skills, networking and analytical skills
