Job Description
Job Title: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Reports to: Board of Directors – AUTO
Job Summary:
The CEO shall be the head of the Secretariat and shall work under the direction and guidance of the
Association’s Board to implement Plans, Strategies and Decision of the Board. .
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Be the Chief Accounting Officer of the Association.
• Implement all financial and administrative controls set up by executive board.
• Monitor the Association’s expenditures to ensure compliance to all company policies and
• policies.
• Provide overall leadership and coordination of the Day to Day activities of the Association
• including but not limited to Finance, Marketing, Media and PR, CSI, Tourism Development,
• Technical Matters and Legal issues.
• Offer Leadership and Strategic direction to all the Association’s employees, and ensuring all
• duties are carried out as per set standards.
• Supervision and coordination of staff including setting targets and evaluating performance
• Capacity building for staff. Set up ways of motivating staff to perform their duties for instance
• bonuses and commission.
• Improve membership benefits and manage their expectations Coordinate the Association’s
• program in liaison with other stakeholders from across the sector.
• Attend Board Meetings to give periodic reports as an Ex-Officio Member.
• Be responsible for the recording of all minutes of the Board meeting in liaison
• with the Board Secretary.
• Liaise and maintain a beneficial relationship with Ministry of Tourism (MoT), Uganda Wildlife
• Authority (UWA), Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), Uganda Hotel Owners association (UHOA)
• member tour operators and other National and International tourism related Organizations
• as guided by the Board
• Be responsible for sourcing for more funding through proposal writing and strategic partnership
• for the development of the programs that are beneficial to the members.
• Oversee and direct the budgets and investments of the organization in liaison with the Board.
• The CEO must steer the Association to deliver the Agreed objectives, but adhere to all legal
• statues and frameworks.
• Perform such other functions as shall be assigned by the Board from time to time.
Requirements:
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a Business Management, Marketing, Tourism, Media and
• communication or management discipline.
• Possession of a Master’s Degree and other professional qualification in business management
• field is an added advantage.
• Minimum of three years’ experience in a senior management position.
• Operational and Strategic experience in Senior Leadership role with responsibility for Staff
• and Budgets
• Ability to empower People and nurture cross functional team collaboration
• Business and commercial acumen with ability to negotiate contracts.
• Experience in managing relationships with Partners and Sponsors
• Marketing proficiency.
• Excellent Analytical and Projects Management skills
