Job Description
Position: Communication Officer
Duty Station: Kampala, with frequent travel to field project districts/locations as required.
Contract: 4 months, with possibility of extension
Reports to: Country Director
Position Summary: Reporting to the Country Director (CD) and working in close collaboration with the Head of Programs (HOP), other program and operation teams in Uganda, and the Communication Manager at WCC Headquarters, the Communication Officer is an integral part of the WCC’s country team in Uganda. The Communication Officer will be responsible to lead and coordinate the development and implementation of WCC’s communication and outreach strategy and plans, including regular documentation, internal and external dissemination and promotion of WCC programs, success stories, and events. The position holder will also support the country program team in the designing, production of Information, Education and Communication (IEC), internal and external communication, advocacy and visibility materials, and is the focal person for media and public relations. .
Knowledge and Experience:
• University degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Studies or related field.
• A minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible and relevant experience working in the field of
communication or public relations.
• Experience of working in various media formats, including photo, audio, video, print and web.
• Proven experience in managing digital communication and social media.
