Job Description
UFFU is affiliated to the Australian-based not-for-profit School for Life Foundation and operates 3 schools in the Mpigi district, delivering holistic education to over 1,000 Nursery, Primary and Secondary students across 2 campuses located in Mbazzi and Katuuso. A vacancy exists for a motivated and experienced professional of high integrity to join our team as Country Director.
Title: Country Director
Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (Australia) and Chief Operating Officer (Australia), the Country Director will be responsible for the strategic leadership of UFFU’s program activities in Uganda. The Country Director will lead programmatic and operational management, represent UFFU at Government, Local and international levels, and oversee the development and implementation of strategic plans..
Key responsibilities:
• Provide strong strategic leadership to the country team.
• Develop and oversee the implementation of UFFU’s strategic and operational plans.
• Oversee all HR related issues.
• Ensure effective financial management for the operations in accordance with local statutes.
• Manage spending within UFFU in—line with the approved budgets.
• Provide reports for the UFFU and SFL Boards, donors and grant-bodies as required.
• Represent SFL/UFFU interests at relevant and appropriate working groups, forums and media events.
• Support and oversee the monitoring, evaluation and reporting aspects.
Job requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Humanities, Development Management or another relevant discipline.
• Masters degree is preferred.
• A solid understanding of budgeting and financial planning is essential.
Job related experience and knowledge:
• Minimum of six years of experience in a similar role.
• A strong knowledge of Uganda and East Africa.
• Experience of managing challenging situations requiring effective prioritization.
• Experience of solving complex issues through analysis, ensuring buy-in of key stakeholders.
• Good understanding of financial and operational management processes.
• A results—oriented person with strong vision, strategic planning and implementation abilities.
