Job Description
The Austrian Red Cross (AutRC) is offering a job opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated Country Representative for Uganda. The purpose of the Country Representative (CoRep) is to oversee general management of projects in Uganda, which have a strong WASH focus. The CoRep will ensure that projects are delivered to a high technical standard in line with AutRC, donor, and international best practices. The CoRep is responsible for strong coordination with the Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) and other movement partners in country.
Your tasks and responsibilities
• Manage projects to support refugees and host communities in the West Nile region
• Coordinate project management and communication of other AutRC supported projects
• Represent AutRC towards URCS senior management, other RC movement partners and stakeholders
• Lead on proposal development in close coordination with the technical teams of URCS and AutRC
• Ensure quality implementation of AutRC programmes including optimal use of financial resources and quality reporting in compliance with donor contracts and AutRC rules and regulations
• Lead on financial and narrative reporting to AutRC HQ, donors and partners according to project reporting plans, ensuring reports are of a high quality and are submitted in a timely manner
• Lead and manage the local delegation in Kampala including all administrative aspects
Your profile
• Austrian (EU) work permit
• At least five years international humanitarian and/or development experience (NGO, IO or Charity) at programme management level, experience in the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is a strong asset
• Degree or diploma in development studies, project management or a relevant field
• Excellent project and finance management skills (including budgeting and budget control)
• Experience in WASH projects is a strong asset
• Work experience in the East African region is an asset
• Excellent English skills, German and local Uganda languages are an asset
• Team player and culturally sensitive personality
• Strong experience in people management, managing and supporting staff
• Ability to work under pressure and lead a multicultural team in complex and demanding environments
• Strongly motivated by humanitarian and development work, and high sensitivity to diversity

Start of employment: March 2022
Duration: 1 year, with option to extend
Compensation: depends on qualifications and experience, minimum monthly all-in salary of € 3.995,00 gross
