Jobs summary
Under the guidance and supervision of the Research Supervisor and project manager, the Research Assistant shall be responsible for providing smooth flow and access of information to the project system using recommended application app through field interviews for action and decision making.
S/he will record data, guide data collection, compilation, cleaning, reporting and management of the application system. S/he will produce and submit daily activity reports.
The purpose of the Rapid Assessment is to determine the effects of the pandemic on the girl’s education in Uganda, social economic activities, identify challenges, specifically the effects of the pandemic on girl’s student attendance/dropout, instruction and learning, irregular migration of students and their families, and inequalities due to gender, geographic area (rural or urban), socioeconomic status (SES), ethnicity, and disability.

Net Salary: 550,000 Ughs (Monthly)
Type: Full time
Report to: Human Resource Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Attend IJITRC training sessions on the baseline study
• Conduct Household Interviews using IJITRC off-line application
• Clean data before submission to IJITRC data bank using recommended application app
• Enter data into the electronic application database using recommended application app
• Adhering to Professional Code of Conduct and Ethics.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor
• Assessing the performance of students and daily activity while in lockdown
• Assessing effects of covid-19 on girl’s child education and youth
• Conduct quality control for completed questionnaires (including verification)
• Conduct Key Informant Interviews using available tools.
• Support with the Focus group discussions
• Good report writing and recording into the using recommended application app

QUALIFICATION, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS REQUIREMENT FOR THE DATA ENTRY/RESEARCH ASSISTANT/RAPID ASSESSMENT ASSISTANTS
• A minimum of an A’ level qualifications, certificate or diploma in IT/ computer sciences/ nursing/ secretarial studies/ Business Administration, Social Sciences & Social Work or related field from a recognized institute/university
• Applicant MUST have an active email address, if not, open one
• Good computer skills especially of iPad, tablets, and android mini phones
• Demonstrated experience in data collection and handling similar activity Demonstrated experience in data collection from rural communities

• Knowledge of the local language as of the district you are applying for
• Demonstrated good oral and written communication skills.
• Prior knowledge in health, education, and community data collection will be an added advantage

• Should be willing to work on weekends upon request
• Must be familiar with public policies in addressing education gaps, social inclusion, indigenous people, disability, gender, social inclusion agendas.

• Studies certificate and education sponsorship for best performers
• Medical/risk allowances covered – payable at appointment
• Transport allowances: 20,000 Ughs daily. (Weekend excluded)
• 3 months unlimited data to complete the tasks
• Meal allowance: 15,000 Ughs daily. (Weekend excluded)

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY:
• Working knowledge of English would be desirable.
• Area local language is a MUST
