Reporting To – Human Resource Manager

Job Purpose:

To provide driving services and maintain assigned company motor vehicles while ensuring safety and security of authorized passengers, cargo, equipment and tools onboard.

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Clean and maintain assigned motor vehicles and accessories in good working condition.
• Convey staff and any other authorized persons as well as equipment and materials in a safe and secure manner.
• Ensure that safe driving practices are adhered to including local driving codes and internally agreed standards.
• Comply strictly with the official Highway Code and traffic rules and regulations while driving.
• Make a thorough daily check of vehicle mechanical condition and take appropriate steps to ensure everything is in order and promptly report any fault, damage or loss.
• Monitor fuel gauge constantly and report any need for refueling.
• Check regularly to ensure that the vehicle has valid insurance cover and assist as required in following up the processing and collection from insurance company whenever necessary.
• Maintain confidentially of company information at all times while executing duties.
• Run errands to make deliveries as may be assigned by the supervisor.
• Verify repair/ service done by the mechanics on return of vehicle from the workshop.
• Assist in loading/ off-loading of authorized materials onto/from the vehicle.
• Lock securely all vehicle doors and windows after work, prior to handing over the keys.
• Any other duties as assigned from time to time.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience.
• Valid Driving License (Classes B, CM, CH and DL are desirable), with sound driving skills.
• Minimum Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent from an approved, recognized and reputable academic institution.
• A defensive driving certificate is an added advantage
• At least five (05) years working experience driving in a reputable firm or public Body or NGO.
• Practical knowledge of basic motor vehicle mechanical maintenance.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to establish good working relationships with, co-workers and upper-level staff.
• Must have a clean driving and medical record.
• Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment.
• Complete knowledge of road safety rules and regulations.
• Well-groomed, polite and highly motivated individual.
• Good time management skills.
• Flexibility and willingness to work long hours.
