Job Description
About US:
Makerere University, Kampala is Uganda’s largest and oldest institution of higher learning, first established as a technical school in 1922. It became an independent national university in 1970. Today, Makerere University is composed of nine colleges and one school offering programmes for about 36,000 undergraduates and 4,000 postgraduates.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Effectively manage all ICT related queries originating from end users
- Implement the public relations function for DICTS
- Coordinate performance monitoring of various information systems and services from an end user perspective
- Manage DICTS operational meetings for internal staff
- Act as a secretary to various University ICT committees to which DICTS is a Secretariat
- Undertake periodic surveys and analysis of the perception of users about various information systems and services as well as the performance of DICTS
- Disseminate information related to ICT facilities, policies and procedures to end users
- Handling any other duties which may be assigned by the End User Support Manager from time to time
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold an Honours Bachelor’s degree in ICT or related field from a recognized institution
- One year of experience supporting ICT users and must have both hardware and software skills.
- Experience in hardware and software trouble shooting
- Good conceptual skills
- Initiative and innovation
- Good interpersonal skills
- Output – oriented work habits
- Age Limit: Below 40 years
