Welthungerhilfe (WHH), founded in 1962, is today one of the biggest non-governmental aid and development agencies in Germany. The objective of the program in Uganda is to improve livelihoods of the most vulnerable population in rural areas through interventions that increase their Food and Nutrition Security, improve sustainable access to WASH services and support the employability of youth through vocational and life skills training. We understand that livelihoods of the rural population in Uganda have improved in a sustainable way when people are able to meet their basic food needs, have access to clean drinking water and safe sanitation, live in a healthy environment and take up opportunities to earn and diversify a decent income.
In Uganda, Welthungerhilfe currently operates in the districts of Arua, Yumbe, Moroto, Nakapiripirit, Napak, Amudat, Fortportal, Katakwi, Amuria, Mukono, Wakiso and country office in Kampala.
About Project:
Welthungerhilfe is anticipating funding from BMZ to implement the project: “Cross-border strengthening of the resilience of South Sudanese refugees and their host and return communities in Uganda and South Sudan” in Yumbe district.
Position: Farmer Filed School Facilitator (05)
Welthungerhilfe is looking for a dynamic and team-oriented Farmer Filed School Facilitators who can work independently and contribute to further improving the quality of the Project. The successful candidate will be based in the Welthungerhilfe – Yumbe Project Office in Yumbe Town. The position is to be filled by September 01, 2020.
The aim of the position:
Under the general supervision of the Technical Lead Agriculture, the FFSF will be responsible for the provision of technical advice in the field of agricultural and livestock production.
Duration: The initial contract will be for 12 months with possibility of extension to 3 years .

Tasks and Responsibilities of the Position:
• Carry out ground working activities in preparation for the selection of beneficiaries and establishment of FFSs
• Guide the identified beneficiaries through the FFS formalization process, i.e. establishing the FFS, leadership structure, constitutions, bye-laws, registration with relevant authorities and opening up of bank accounts
• Facilitate the group action planning process and identify the appropriate learning activities to be integrated into the season-long training schedule
• Set up study and commercial plots with crops identified by the FFS groups.
• Guide the farmers on enterprise selection and support farmers to develop season-long training schedules
• Conduct the regular FFS sessions on a weekly basis following the season-long schedule
• Guide FFS groups to put in place and regularly update the appropriate record.
• Mentor the FFS groups to higher level farmer organizations like FFS Networks and build their managerial and entrepreneurial skills to enable them become self-reliant
• Liaise with other partners in the Livelihood sector in preparing the appropriate training content and maintain a regular exchange of information with them.
• Together with FFS groups organize field days, trips as an integral component of the FFS learning process
• Sensitize the FFS groups on cross cutting issues on gender, environment, nutrition and Covid-19.
• Conduct supportive supervision and on job mentoring at community level for nutrition leaders
• Document quality reports
Note: The role of the Famer Field School Facilitator cannot be limited to the specific duties and tasks detailed herein. The success of the WHH humanitarian mission is the highest priority and all issues which arise must be addressed accordingly. Therefore, she/he will be required to manage all unforeseen issues and circumstances and remain flexible to perform any other duties, as and when required.

Qualifications
• Must hold a minimum of Diploma in agriculture;
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in community based agricultural projects
• Good report writing skills and the collection and compilation of field data
• Knowledge of Farmer Field School approach is an advantage
• Very good communication skills both oral and written.
• Must poses a valid Motorcycle driving license

Desirable:
• Good command in English, knowledge and fluency in local language is desirable
• Willing to work on weekends if necessary, during planting season (will be compensated)
• Experience in working independently and result oriented
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
